Hi guys,

I'm looking for hints, guides or whatever on covering up/retouching repairs involving poly finishes. The stupid thing is that I already do a lot of these after neck repairs: but I've never been happy with the outcome. Or even if I am it's taken much too long to get there. What are your procedures for hiding neck repairs?

Hi Keith,

I think the standard repair for Poly around here is to strip and refinish if you want to truly hide the repair. I don't think anyone anywhere has found a solvent that will meld cured poly with new poly or any other finish. If I remember correctly most, if not all of the Pros on the forum make it a point to tell clients that they will either have to pay for a total refinish of the neck or will need to be OK with witness lines.

Sand, tint and overspray.
