This may be a little far afield from classic lutherie, but does anyone have an idea about how to extract a broken pin from an RCA plug socket on a Mackie mixer?  Someone hooked the cord while setting up the mixer and the pin broke off in the socket.  This is from one of the tape in or tape out sockets.

Thanks,

Larry

To all who gave me helpful suggestions, I wanted to let y'all know that I was successful. The broken pin had plastic in the center (molded in as part of the production process). I took a very small drill (#61) and carefully drilled the center of the pin. Then I put a dab of super glue on the end of a round toothpick, stuck in in the hole and waited until the glue cured. It eased right out.

Thanks to all! If this hadn't worked, I would have escalated to the other suggestions.

BTW, I didn't disassemble the board to check the solder connections.  The socket is quiterobust and firmly mounted and looking at the remains of the stereo cable and its RCA plugs, it's pretty flimsy.  I 'm guessing that the point of failure was the plug.  So we'll test run the board at the first opportunity before we start taking stuff apart.

Hey! Good news today!

Nice save, Larry

Glad that you did not have to escalate.....it would have got much more 'painfull'.....believe me!
