I've been using that SM dial gauge for string height, and count my stokes. It's good for reference measuring before a replacement, or on a guitar where the player likes the action. A favorite tool for me.

I've got a spare dial indicator. I think I'll make one from brass stock on the Bridgeport mill when my machine tools course starts back up for summer.
