Hi!
My shellac supplier also carries various animal glues, including hide glue. I remember from Robert O'Brien's videos that #192 GS is meant to be an all-purpose and 350 is used for stronger bonds. Higher the GS, the less the open time, right? My supplier only offers 300 GS and I was wondering if there are any other limitations except the open time, for using it universally?
This company sells mostly to violin makers from Austria and Italy, so it works for them at least :)
Thanks!

Also check the FAQ.
The only down side that I am aware of is less open time. Mind you this can be BIG down side depending on the application.
