I've got a Martin LX with a lifting bridge.  Actually, I've now taken the bridge off as it was barely attached and came off perfectly.  While it was still covered under warranty, there's no warranty service center nearby, and I'd had to have paid shipping in both directions... too much for something so simple.

What glue should I use to put this bridge back?  It was put on with what appears to be a pretty crappy (coverage wise) coat of very thin clear glue.  Can I assume this was epoxy of some kind???

Thanks in advance...

I have done 1 previous job gluing a wood bridge to a HPL top.  I used epoxy and a fairly standard clamping technique.  It worked well and that bridge is holding on tight about 18 months later (and it is a 12 string, so there is a lot of tension tugging on the joint).

Best wishes

Mark

Thanks Mark!

Well, that sounds good... I'm a little concerned with this Richlite stuff, as it's almost like plastic... I've done inlays on a Micarta fingerboard, and they worked out very well, but of course, there's no tension there.  I remember the drill filings were a lot like plastic though.

I wonder if I need special epoxy for this bridge.  I must say that the gluing job the Martin factory did in Mexico on this bridge left a LOT to be desired!

Happy New Year!

It was glued with gel superglue, and that is what I use to reglue them if necessary.

Thanks Greg...

That would make sense.  The stuff on there now is fairly clear.  Not much working time with the glue, but I'm sure strong as an ox!

Plus, the bridge is just like that club you're holding ;)!

Happy Holidays Greg!
