Hi Len,

Give Barron Clarke a call  (Google Barron Clarke Guitars) or call him on 02 62391513 (ACT) - he is a colleague and prime hubcap nut - builds , supplies, repairs etc.  probably one of the best Reso guys in the country.   Give him my regards.

Rusty.

thanks Rusty , I have dealt with Barron B4 years ago , Ill call him .

I've installed several Highlander Magnaphonic pickups in National Tricones, and my customers and I were always pleased and amazed that a relatively low-tech pickup reproduced the guitar's tone so well. There used to be a volume control option available that was an easy non-invasive installation. On the down side, the pickup requires outboard power supplied by a 9V battery in a metal box connected to the guitar with a stereo cable. A normal cable goes from the box output to the amp. Also these are manufactured for National instruments and the clearances on another brand are likely to be different. You would have to get the pickup dimensions from Highlander.

Thanks Greg I will look at that , the Recording King guitar actually sounds real good .

Steve Olson at Elderly Instruments makes ConeTone pickups and might have something or perhaps could make something for a Tricone. He is the go-to guy at Elderly for all things resophonic.

You can reach Steve through Elderly - http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/items/CTONE1.htm
