I am roughing out a L-1 style bridge for an archtop. I made a base from rosewood. I decided to cap it a harder wood. I grabbed a little hunk of what on first look I thought was ebony. Turns out that it was something else? It's very hard and dark colored block. When I started working it the dust and curls are dark orange. Anyone know what I am dealing with? Thanks. Tom

Looks like Cocobolo to me, it's orange like that when you first cut it, but it will darken to nearly ebony colors over time.

Cocobolo, probably from me a few years ago.

Thanks gentlemen. And thank you Eric for lots of good vibes over the years!
