Hi again all , I have a couple of tele p/ups that are dead , but I cant seem to get #43 wire . Has anyone trien the #42 on a tele neck , and whats the verdict ?" thanks Len

StewMac sells both #42 and #43 gauge wire for pickup winding, (#43 for the Tele neck and Rics; #42 for Strats and the Tele bridge) so it's probably safe to say either would do the trick. But they're both available.

Hi Mike , thanks for that , I hadn't checked stewmac for a while . I notice that some of the boutique p/up winders are using #42 as an option.I was concerned that the lower resistance and bulkier windings would throw things out of whack . Any other input is welcome...Len
It is OK to rewind a tele neck pup with #42 wire. As long as you can fit it all under the cover! It will add some clarity to the neck pup. Makes it a little more strat like.
