Hey guys. Just wondering what you all would typically charge for installing one of these things onto a les paul. I personally hate locking trems, and think they are ugly as sin to boot... but money is money.
I'm thinking around 150??
Also.. any tips or little tricks to make the process go smoothly? Thanks in advance everyone!

back to the top. Anybody??
First things first - The new Kahlers are about the same as the old Kahlers - there is a couple of pages on their website dealing with making them work - ie: out of the box they don't work and even with a guitar tech (one of my other jobs) following you around on stage you are still going to struggle - I have a drawer full of old Kahlers which belong in the bin and back in the 70's/ 80s a lot of nice les pauls got butchered installing these things.

Unfortunately, I installed one of the new ones last year thinking maybe they had ironed out the bugs.

Advice you client to have a cold shower and buy a genuine Floyd Rose/Schaller Floyd if you want to do the serious trem gig and can stand to cut up a LP.

We charge AUD$250 to route, install and setup a Floyd and I think that this maybe a little cheap.

Rusty.
Thanks rusty. I know... I wouldn't put one of these on one of my own guitars, not in a million years. When he approached me with the question, my initial response was, "why"? I got the answer I expected... something about how it would look bitchin or whatever. Sometimes you can't talk any sense into people. The thing is just an Epi to boot... so the guy is going to spend more to put a trem on it than its worth!
You can lead a horse to water but......
