Hi, I've got the weird idea putting nylon strings on a BigLou's wide neck. (inline 6 straight head)
What do you think using Sperzel trim-lock (staggered) with G-B-E.

I want to avoid putting a string tree for this Frankenstein project.

HI Alex,

We use Sperzels as our OEM tuner and I have some reservation about using the Trim Loc given that it has a pin that bears on the string to hold it.   I don't know if the pin may weaken the skinny nylon strings at the locking point and you should ask Ron Sperzel direct for an answer to that.  However, we also use the Sperzel Sound-Loc which has a passive locking system and is much lighter (which improves our guitar balance) - These are available with staggered height posts but for a nylon string I would just use the low posts for all of them.  Also have the bonus of many different knob types and tuner body finishes.

Regards,

Rusty.

Here's the reply I got from Ron @ sperzel :

Hi Alex

We make a nylon string for electric guitar , for Roger Sadwosky , they are not Trim-Lok . People have used our normal Trim-Lok on nylon strings before with success . Check out  Sadowsky guitar .

Best Regards

Ron

Wow, I think I should reconsider my thinking on string trees.
Thanks Russel for the input about low height for all strings and Sound-Trim option.
