FRETS.NET

to frank ford... since you dont list an email. not guitar related at all.

a while back, i ran my own website. it compiled A LOT of information about a certain topic. my users wanted to be able to search. i found a simple search that was easy to install into the cgi bin of my website. i think frets.com would do well to have a search. there is SOOOO much information within the site and it would be such a wonderful luxury to be able to just find what you are looking for instantly.

i kept that little install and would love to offer it up to you since i have not used it in a very long time and dont ever plan to use it again. let me know if you are interested.

and by the way, i am thankful for all that i have learned based on frets.com and the rare earth plunger is one of the coolest home made tools ever.

Just to be a trouble maker: I thought everything was guitar related.

I agree that searchable database would be handy. I was a part of the Taunton Press "Fine" series of forums, and one could locate a post or a thread with ease. That being said, I personally believe one should stick around and glean as you go, and in reality, most topics are recycled a bit anyway.
Hello
If you look up at the top right corner, is that what your talking about? It's a search for FRETS.NET
Just a thought.

mike,

the frets.net search only searches the forums. i would love to be able to search the frets.com website. say you need to make an end pin... just type end pin... instead of getting distracted by all of the other awesome information while digging thru it to find end pins.
Frets.com - Part of the joy is getting lost in there. Search option would be deluxe.
Tom... I'm with you 100%. There's no need for a search at all.... half the fun is wandering-through the articles and topics. I've learned 3X as much about miscellaneous repairs and tips by "getting lost" while searching for the initial subject of interest.

Ditto for the old "Tips And Tricks" books that StewMac used-to sell.... they were all compilations of reader's ideas that followed no form or function in the listings and they were also lots of fun to just peruse.

Hear-hear...."Ban The Search"!
RIght you are - search has been needed for some time.

Google wants $250 a year for me to add their search feature as part of FRETS.COM, but the provide the same basic service for free if you're willing to go to a tiny bit of effort. So, I added a quick little instructional page and linked it on the big index page. Check it out here:
