5/16" thick slate?
Howdy.
I have access to a free +- 4x4 sized piece of slate (good one side). Would there be a good reason for me to take it home? What would you men do with such a thing? It seems like it would end up being a star in next spring's purge. And its kind if heavy.

It would make a great bench top. Nearly impervious to moisture, and you could write on it with chalk.

Actually it came from a school. I cannot see keeping such a heavy limited use thing around. If anyone is in the Twin Cities area and wants it, let me know and I will bring it back to my garage for you to pick up. Otherwise, some alley hunter will think he struck gold.

Four feet square and only 5/15" thick? Can you handle it without breaking it?

Grab it quick and at the end of the financial year you can rub it down for a "clean slate".....otherwize it would make a good hearth for a wood-fire.
