Anybody else getting invitations from Kate Desmond?  She sends emails thru the Frets system.  Says she saw my Frets profile and is very interested in a relationship  and "(Remeber the distance or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life)"

And if I respond, the next email will probably be a photo of a pretty young woman from Nigeria and a plea to help get her fortune out of the country.  And, of course, she will share it with me.  

Might be fun!

I try to catch these as soon as possible, and appreciate the "heads up" notes I get from other members who see 'em first. The folks that run NING are working on the problem all the time, but so are the spammers.

This is what my email says:
"Hello
My name is miss kate i saw your profile today and became intrested in you,i will also like to know you more,and i want you to send an email to my email address so i can give you my picture, for you to know whom i am."

This does not sound like someone who wants to talk about guitars. Or a fluent English speaker for that matter.
I have been deleting them without response -- I like my computer virus free, and do not wish to put my email address into questionable databases.

I believe the key word in these spam mails we are receiving is "Desmond" in the listed member's first or last name. I hope this does not have any consequences for any of the legitimate members named "Desmond".

Yes, I got this email a few weeks ago, I new it was a trap and deleted it. Just got it again today...the gift that keeps on giving (Ugh!).
