Does anyone know of any 'glitter/metalic' clearcoats?  A client wants strat style finished in a 'psychodelic' finish.  Not a metallic lac., but a top coat.  Many thanks!

I use a glitter,  however it comes in a can and is mixed with clear laquer or polly finish to your desired comsistincy.

I buy the stuff in an automotive body paint store..  take a look in the phone book or go to an automotive parts supply,

and ask about it  -- Peace..   Donald

Thanks Don! Any brand you prefer? How do you mix and apply it. SIze of particles? Spray settings? Does it settle quickly, thin coats? Etc. MANY thanks!

I cant give you the brand name rite off the bat but I can get it for you when I go to the shop again--

It comes in what looks like powder form in a can and is mixed with laquer or polly finish to the consistoncy that you prefer.

A gun with a .03 mm nozzle will do the job of spraying it on what ever it is that you are finishing.

An under coat of clear is recomended first and rubed out with 400 grit wet paper before you apply the sparkle finish .

Then rub that out with 400 grit wet paper and a final coat of clear should be what the Dr. ordered.

Hope this helps you out and best to you on your adventure- Peace Donald

P.S. Heres a pic of one I did about 3 years ago-- silver sparkle on black.

Thanks Don!

I appreciate the tips! Very nice finish on that guitar too!
Chris

Hi Chris-- the brand name to the flake that I used on the guitar pictured is

House of Kolor-, it comes in a 6 oz. jar and the number of the flake is

MFO2 silver mini flake...

BE WARNED---- This stuff is toxic and if you breathe the dust then you will be in trouble big time....

ware a dust mask when handling it.. and any thing like it..

NOTE-- Try spraying it on a piece of scrap wood before you put it on the actual guitar that you are working on...

best to you and be safe--  Peace, Donald
