Stratabond Neck Care (Martin D-1E)

Hey guys. I recently acquired a Martin D-1E which has a Stratabond neck. I'm just curious on how best I should care for it, since people usually talk about the body and fretboard but not much about the neck itself. I followed the advice in the booklet and used a damp cloth to wipe down the neck but it left stains on the cloth (that is, something was leeched off the neck, maybe colour, maybe something else) so i'm not sure if thats a wise thing to do. Any experienced martin owner please do share how you maintain your guitar so i can learn =)

yeahh I read through that before posting this, but the poster's main issue was with the roughness of the neck, not the care for it. I'm just wondering if there's anything I should do like how to clean it and etc.

Is the guitar new or was it pre-owned?

If new, you probably cleaned-off residue from the finishing process.  If it was used, it's probably "previous owner" residue. That happens all the time.  I think some players use BBQ sauce for a neck lube :D

My favorite cleaners are Smith's & Dunlop 65.  Your choice of any of the high quality cleaners available on the market will work.

Spray it onto the rag, not the back of the neck, and use as directed. 

After it' meets your clean spec's, a wipe-down with a clean dry flannel clothg after each playing session will maintain the feel and it should only require a cleaner a few times a year. Wipe your strings down too.

Oh it's a new one, so I guess the first one's right. Thanks for the information =) I was just curious because this stratabond neck is quite different from most of the other necks (or at least it's the first time i've encountered it).
