FRETS.NET

I recently completed a classical guitar (the 60th I have made)and have found an annoying buzz, but only on the D string. I have checked all the usual things. What is happening is that when you fret the note right near the fret there is no buzz but if you fret the note a little back from the fret the string is vibrating on the top of the fret and buzzing. The only thing I can think to do is use taller frets but I am not convinced this will work. anyone got any other ideas.

HOW ARE THE FRET TOPS HAVE YOU PULLED OUT YOU FRET ROCKER? DID YOU BUILD WITH A TRUSS ROD? HOW MUCH RELIEF IS THERE ? AND WHATS THE ACTION AT THE NUT AND THE 12TH FRET?
OK action at 12 fret is 4mm and clearance at the nut is fine also relief is fine for classical guitar. the problem seems to be more about the string as this is more "lively" than normal. The problem is not about whether the frets are level (they are) and the note frets pefectly as long as you are close to the fretif you move the finger back away from the fret the buzzing starts and is worse if you play softly.
in situations like this I find it can save hours of work if you just replace the string , sometimes you get a dud , but they still look normal , also I would say that most fret buzz is worse if you finger back from the fret. You would probably know more than me after making so many guitars .Len
Another aspect is that you might have a 'backbuzz'
from too low seated string at the nut.

Also some resonance might be amplified by body
characteristics and requiring a higher D-string action
