FRETS.NET

Hi everyone, I'm stuck with a broken truss rod, I have tried to get some technical support from Guild, but so far I've only been able to get a list of approved agents in France.  I did take the guitar there but the response was disturbing (the CO-2C is a bit of an odd one with the patented bolt on neck) and illustrated that they probably are not familiar with the construction. Anyway I've removed the neck, but I still can't seem to get to the truss rod - Is the only access to the truss rod by ungluing the fretboard ? Does anybody have any experience with this ? attached is a wordfile with some pictures and an idea to fix it, but I would appreciate all advise.  Oh by the way the, the quote by the luthier was 850$, so I'm motivated to roll up my sleeves.

For the proposed repair job I would need to know what the thread type is of the truss rod & the remaining length of the thread on the truss rod.... does anybody know ?

Thank you all for your support.

Cornelis,

At this stage you should not need to remove the ftruss rod. Please look at the attached links. Frank's article shows how he repairs such a problem and Stewart McDonald makes the tools. I have never spoken directly to Pierre-Antoine Roiron, nor am I familiar with French Geography, but I've seen examples of Pierre-Antoine's work and I'd bet he can do the repair. And he's on the right continent.

Hi Joshua, thank you very much for the leads, I will follow up & let you know. Very pleased that this kind of repair work has successfully been done already.

Hi Joshua.  I've made some tools to do the job myself, and the truss rod has been repaired.  The bolt on neck design is beautifully done by Guild.  I now need to set up the guitar correctly as the action is horrible, so I'm now looking around for nut files...
