A friend has an older Chinese Guitar named Flinthill. It has been in a car accident and pieced back together. The tuners were of various types and the owner wants them replaced, which I can do. However, I noticed that the headstock is splitting along a graft (or seam). I can get some thin Hide glue in there, but am wondering if there is a better solution. Any suggestions will be appreciated. wilo

If the split is on the top of the head stock you will likely find that the overlay is so thin that you will have a hard time to seal it up .I had one come in like that and  never could get it to close up.Bill..................

thanks for the reply. it is actually split from the back. the face plate is OK.  the split seems to follow the seam, but probably does not. i can wiggle the top and get movement. i may shoot some steam in the split to try to remove any glue and then try hot hide glue and a clamp. again thanks william
