Pickup for Bandolim

I have a Brazilian bandolim.  I'm looking for a suitable pickup for it.  I tried a Baggs Radius on the exterior of the top but it's way too bright.  The instrument, for those not familiar is very bright and has huge sustain.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.

My favorite pickup for mandolin and variants is the K&K Twinspot. The 2 discs are placed inside the top, under the ends of the bridge. You may need some tone shaping to control the brightness.

What is the goal? Solo? Ensemble? In a live setting you can always adjust the EQ, for recording I'd prefer a mic over any pickup.
