Reshape the edges of a Danelectro body after glue

Hello to everybody:

 

I have to repair a wonderful Danelectro DC bass. Unfortunately its owner let it fall and the wood near the pickup output now is broken. I'll glue it and the mayor problem will be fixed. Nevertheless I'd like to know how to reshape the edges of the body: parts of wood are missing. Would you use wood-paste or do you have other tricks to suggest to me?
