Ckeck out this site Ipomoea acoustic guitars .I built one of these
guitar's for a customer and he got the plans off him for it. even better if you think you would like to build one of these guitars the customer I built the one for has two full size plans for it maybe he would sell you a set Bill...............
Bill...the Ipomoea is certainly a handsome guitar and coming from Mottola I'm sure it's a quality plan. My problem is my friend is very conservative about guitars. He thinks the D-28 is the be all-end all of acoustic guitar design. A modern hole placement would evoke a lifted eyebrow I'm sure.
Hi Robbie-- check www.lmii.com , and I believe they may have a kit that might work for you--
Peace, Donald
Don...I looked at LMII before posting the question and even checked out the Kit Wizard to see if a cutaway was an option. I admit I was a bit confused by the kit but didn't see a cutaway option. After your suggestion I went back and send LMII an email asking about this possibility. Thanks.
Bill,
I went looking for my own edification. There's nothing on that site that EVEN resembles a Taylor GC design. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Thx,
Paul
Well Paul I never realized he wanted to make that exact Taylor 812ce I guess my problem has been if I wanted to build a guitar like someone has I would just take a patern of the Insturment and a few measurments and go a head and build it. I guess I made a mistake trying to help out this time .Some people just have to have a drawing for every thing they go to do I guess. Sorrry if I led anyone a stray. Bill.............
No sweat Bill.
I am not a builder, and I was only curious. btw: the guitars on that site are really gorgeous and innovative. THANKS for the link :) It's a nice site.
Also, it's only my inference that he wanted to clone the Taylor. It could be MY mistake. No foul, man.
The rest of your advice, I think, is right on :)
Have a good 'un, buddy.
Thanks everyone! Not to worry, Bill...I'm only looking for something in the ballpark and I appreciate your contribution.
A friend asked if I could build him an electric-acoustic. Being busy building out a new shop I though a kit would be the way to go. He's a small person and so the smaller bodied Taylor seemed a good place to start.
These are the closest match of dimensions I know of.
OLF Small Jumbo Plans (reminds me of the George Carlin's bit about Jumbo Shrimp)
A fair amount of tweaking info can be found at the OLF for those plans. They have been very popular,
Thanks, Mark. I didn't think to look at the SM plans.
