clear coating over signature

Hi guys, a customer brought me an autographed ibanez satriani guitar wanting me to clear coat over it. Should i just use a polyurethane? anyone know about how the adhesion is to the ibanez finishes?

Deffinitely turned blotchy... It is hard to see but I also went through some of the red tint while achieving the cyano / poly blend. I was obliged to rush.  

Had I gone over it with shellac first, and had a bit more time to carefully shape / blend, I feel it would have been a very strong result. The owner was happy at least.

yes hit it with Bull Dog clear coat then Lacquer .
