Furch guitar with exploding fingerboard

Hi, chaps. This came into the shop recently. It has previously been 'repaired' by someone who has used some kind of putty or something to try to reattach the fingerboard.

Wondering about the strip that fits into the truss rod channel. It's quite a sloppy fit: should I worry about that?

Apparently, the old glue was 'No More Nails'.

I would make a new strip with a better fit. One less thing to worry about!
