Mixing wood dust....?

I was glueing a non structural joint that had a slight gap (crooked crack repair to wooden PG) and mixed in some maple dust to my wood glue to hide the gap. I was just wondering if anyone has mixed in wood dust with epoxy for similar purposes. I know inlace has a good spectrum of colors available, but to match wood, I thought dust might be a little better and easier.....

I've found that mixing wood dust in glue invariably produces a fill that's too dark. I prefer to use powdered stains and let a test sample or two dry before doing the actual repair. On a shallow fill a clear fill almost always looks better than an opaque, colored fill.

You're right Greg, the fill spot was a little darker. But it was an uneven split that had some hairline gaps, and I thought that I'd rather have that than yellow glue showing. Do you mix in your powdered stains to tightbond?
I hardly ever "color" my glue, but this quick fix made me thing about an old classical I saw that had a rosette with pearl pieces inlaid into an ebony dust/glue mixture. It seemed to have held up very well over the years.
But I'm curious as to what applications wood tinted glue might have.

Hey guys! Don't shout so hard! I was trying to sleep! But now you've wakened me up, so I just want to add that using a clearer wood dust, maple or other light hard wood, with glue (I prefer CA) should seem like a little darker, natural, grain, which I prefer to coloured powder. But that's just a personal taste.
