Hey Deni - I just happen to have a couple of strats around so I measured one for ya
LOWER BOUT 12-1/2''
WAIST 9"
UPPER BOUT 11-1/2"
OVER ALL LENGTH 17-3/4"
BODY THICKNESS 1-3/4"
yes, the Starcaster was a semi-hollowbody.... not a spectacular seller and don't know if they're still made. Fender does, however, still use the "Starcaster" name on their entry-level drum sets, etc.
yeah, the real Starcaster was the Edsel under Fender guitars :-) , as far as the popularity went. I guess it just didn't fit in Fenders singlecoil/ solid body image. Shame, I've read a few times that it was a killer guitar.
I think they made them from 1975 to 1982 or 3 ??
Never seen a real one, even a real Fender freak I know (a customer of mine), with a collection of over 60 instruments hasn't got one, or even ever had one in his hands. Pretty rare guitar. Lots of luck with your search!
Best G.
