My friends:

I'm thrilled to announce the grand opening on April 1st (yeah, yeah I know... ;) it's April fools day...) of Ann Arbor Guitars!

Ann Arbor Guitars is the brain child of three of us, Master Luthier David Collins, Luthier Brian Delaney, and I.  We will be located on the third floor of the Herb David Guitar Studio building in the heart of the People's Republic of Ann Arbor... ;)

Herb David who Frank may know has been offering Lutherie services in Ann Arbor for 51 years and is retiring.  Herb's shop has fixed instruments for many notables over the years such as Clapton, John Lennon, and many more with newer names more recently such as Jeff Daniels.

The three of us have been at Herbs for a while now but with Herb's retirement we were afforded the opportunity to lease this historic space and start our own business.  Many of the big names in Lutherie today can trace their past to Herb's too with folks such as Dan Earlywine, Bryan Gallop, and more who all at some point worked with Herb.

I'm personally thrilled and this is very much a dream come true for me!  The Ann Arbor community is very musical with many talented musicians who may make their livings from performing.  It's also a community with a very diverse economy that has historically been somewhat recession proof....

If any of you are ever in the A2 (Ann Arbor) area please feel very free to stop by and we will be very happy to drop the chisels and show you what we are doing.  A few months ago Dan Earlywine visited us in our shop to film material for his awesome "Trade Secrets" videos.

Thanks for looking!

Sorry... I forgot to post the link to the newspaper article....

Ann Arbor Guitars article...

Congtats!   ... on what sounds like a great opportunity in a historic place!

Lots of talent under one roof, for sure!

Best wishes for your new venture. Definitely starting off on the right foot by occupying a place with a history. Much success to you and your partners.

Congratulations Hesh and Associates!

That's really great, Hesh!  I wish you guys the best of luck.

Thanks my friends!!  All three of us are pretty excited!

One huge advantage of this location for us is that in the psychology of why and how folks like to do business aka: spend money the idea of "buying styles" comes into play in that they only have to visit the very same location that they know and have perhaps visited prior in the last 51 years....  New businesses have a lot to deal with and a shortage of business is not something that I would want to have to deal with.

Thanks again everyone!!

Great news, Hesh.  May you all have success beyond your expectations.

After reading the article, it sounds to me like the 'legacy' of the shop/business is in the best hands possible.

Best wishes my friend :-)

Congratulations!  I'll be in Plymouth this wkend visiting my daughter and son-in-law so maybe I'll bop on over for a visit..What's the street address?  Tom

Thanks Paul - the continuation of Herb's legacy is important to all of us and very much responsible for our opportunity to lease the 900 square foot third floor.  Thanks for the well wishes my friend!!!

Thanks Tom!!!  We don't officially open until April 1st (April fools day...) so we won't be open Saturday until next month but when we are open you are very, very welcome to come on by.  We are at 302 E. Liberty in the heart of the business district!  There is a new parking garage, underground 4 stories, behind our shop if you need to find parking.

Thanks again everyone!!

Sounds good, thanks!  Tom

CONGRATS!  Hope things work out well for you guys.  You're right - I do know of Herb - Dan has always spoken highly of him.

I thought that you might know Herb, Frank!

Dan and his brother visited us for two days a couple of months ago to shoot some video for Stew-Mac's "Trade Secrets."  It seems that the belt sander that has been up there for 51 years was Dan's dad's originally.  So those two go way back and the place has a lot of history for Dan as well.

Thanks for the well wishes Frank - much appreciated!
