I have a friend who is looking to purchase a pickup for his Yammy. I cannot remember what the saddle size is for Yamaha. He lives a bit away and we are working via email.

Anyone know?

Far as I know, the 3/32" pickup will work equally well with 1/8" saddles. . .

Thanks, Frank.

The Yamaha specs say 3mm saddle, the Fishman specs say 3.2mm wide for the "wide" option. I'm thinking there is probably .2mm play in the saddle slot, but not certain, since I don't have the instrument in my hands.

What Frank means by "far as I know" is that he has installed hundreds of 3/32" pickups in 1/8" saddle slots like Taylors. I have too, and I'm sure many other repairmen with long experience. I never bothered stocking the 1/8" version because there is really no need for it.

Yup, in fact, I used only the 3/32" saddle in slots up to 1/4" wide, just tacking a small spacer (slightly lower than the height of the pickup element) at the back edge to keep it from sliding out of position.  If the saddle sat under the front edge of the saddle, it supported things nicely, and sounded good, too.

Thanks again. 3/32 it is!

Much appreciated.

Or consider the LR Baggs Lyric - we like these pups a great deal and more importantly so do our clients.

No messing with the saddle required, great natural tone, one less hole to drill or two actually if you are keen to seat the tip of the UST too.

We can't keep these in stock so many folks are liking them too.
