I sawed the neck off, set the neck, rescrewed the bolt that was in there, and added another screw through an existing strap button to hold it together. I really can't think of a way to get that mess apart otherwise!
The glue on my guitar (and I say this with GREAT hesitation, since I have no idea what it in yours) seemed to go soft really fast. But those dowels were in deep, and nothing else worked.
I might have done a combination of heat and sawing, now that I think about it. It is a truly hideous job.
Yeah, I suspect that the bolt on saved them having to clamp the neck while the glue set - it is not a very functional bolt on it's own, sadly.
Sounds lovely, yes, the heel is flat against the guitar, no recess. I just used a wood screw for the button, but a bolt would probably be more stable and wiser.

I don't know if you remember me, you contacted me a couple of years ago about an old Washburn you wanted to do the neck reset. You had seen pictures of me doing it on the Washburn forum, uploaded by SPT (the member, my customer).
Looking at your avatar, it seems you went ahead and did it! How did it go?

We enjoy the challenge of it all. I've always wanted to do something that is difficult - and building quality high end guitars pretty much fills that bill. We will still keep our repair and maintenance business which is being built into the new factory.
