i have recently obtained a 1974 ovation legend. it has the typical crack in the face that runs from the bridge toward the end pin and another from the sound hole to the bridge. i have cheked with a mirror inside but i dont see the crack in the face of the wood so i think these crackes are mostly in the finish but i am not totaly convinced of that yet. what i am wondering is , is there any thing to fill these cracks with and level of the finish so they are not so pronounced?

Pictures are better to gauge by but if you're convinced it's lacquer crackage only you may be able to fill w/ca
and smooth it out. It depends how good a disquise artist you are.Wet sanding, super duper fine grit, buffing and the like.I'm no pro but that's what comes to mind.
can you tell me about ca where i can get it , what is it.
super glue..Me thinks that the Ovation is plywood..Is the " crack " peaking up?
it seems to be a bit raised but it had been sitting in someones basement for years so it could be due to a few things. i put a light inside the sound hole under the crack and at first i thought it was cracked thru the wood. i then put a mirror inside to see if i could some how brace the crack from the inside to stabilize it but i could not see the crack from the inside. it looks like a standard spuce type of wood from the inside.
