Hello!

Electrics not being my strong point, a customer has brought me a Brian Moore electric guitar which as well as needing setup, also needs the jack socket replaced and I'm hoping somebody can help me out with it. It has both regular pickups (HSH) and a piezo bridge also. Apparently this model only works properly with a splitter cable, and not with a regular mono cable (doesn't sum the two pickups)! The socket has spun around at some point and the wires are completely off, so I'm at a loss of how to wire it up or even start. I've 'had a go' but to no avail! I understand mechanically how the 9 lug socket works but I just can't work out how to wire it up. Available wires to solder are;
shielded wire from magnetic pickup volume
red battery wire
single black wire from Piezo volume
The socket looks pretty much the same to the one stewmac sells
If anybody can help demystify the mystery, it would much appreciated.
Cheers,
Dar

Hi Darren.

I'd start with a query directly to the manufacturer.

Here's their e-mail : support@iguitarworkshop.com

Best of luck.

Darren, Not sure if you saw the 9-lug jack on StewMac's site, but it includes a diagram, if its of any help also!

Thanks Paul,

Will give that a go.

Thanks Rod,

Yeah, I saw the diagram on the stewmac site. I can see whats happening but still can't fathom it all out! Thanks for posting the link though. Appreciate it.

All the best,

Dar

You're welcome, Darren.

What you're looking at isn't wiring 101.  I've been doing electric guitar wiring since 1969, but anything beyond standard LP/Strat/Tele circuits still gives me fits.

Have a great week, man :)
