Hello, and thanks for a great forum!
I have an Ibanez 2355 (copy of ES 175). The binding on the back seems to have shrunk, and it has come loose from the back (see attachment). I have thought of the following solutions:
1. Force the binding down to the back plate. This is possible, but I am afraid that it won't last long. If I should do this, which glue should I choose?
2. Cut the binding with a knife and fill the gap with white epoxy or several layers of white super glue from Stewmac.
3. Will the binding soften with heat? If so, how to heat such a tiny piece without destroying surrounding finish and binding? I am afraid that the heating will do more bad than good.

Any comments?

I would make a cull to fit that spot and clamp it closed you may have to take your wifes hair drier and heat it a little as you go and then use super glue to stick it on again > Bill.""""""""
I AM SORRY I NEED SOME MORE PHOTOS TO LOOK AT FOR AN UNEDUCATED OPINION PLEASE
I can of course make more pictures. What more would you like to see that you can't see on the attached photo?
Hi Bob, I'm not sure what is in Frank's link, and I hope not to counter his expert advice, I have just done a similar repair on a Guild with black bindings, I positioned the guitar with the area uppermost and directed my desk lamp at the binding , when warm it was happy to go back into place. Then i applied some super strength epoxy, and cleaned up , taped the binding down , and left it to harden with the lamp on it.When hard I needed to scrape it and sand a little.I also tried solvent glue and tried without the lamp which all failed. The end result was good however.Len
Thanks! It worked perfectly
