Which Diamond fret file?

I have been using the crank-neck Gurian fret file for years. I just discovered today that it doesn't work all that great. the results are OK, but it's a lot of work to use it. Which diamond fret file do you guys like and why? I want to order one, but haven't decide which one.

I have the Stewmac offset diamond files too in 150 and 300 grit. What I like about it is the offset shape, allowing to crown frets above a set neck or a single cut body shape whithout making dings in the table.

Despite the cost, Stewmac (and LMII) have always been my mainstay in my quest for luthiery perfection. I don't work for them, nor have relatives in their employ, and I am not a shareholder. I don't always think their products are perfect, but often I think they are the best on offer for people who don't have the engineering skills and time to make their own, and their customer service I would rate as second to none.

Having said that, it's always worth while investigating sources which are less expensive if they can offer an adequate substitute. I've looked at the one eBay seller I can find and he seems to be offering a reasonably priced product, which, judging by his ratings, seems to meet with the approval of most of his customers.. On the previous evidence however, I doubt if Bob is our eBay seller; the latter seemed quite lucid.......

It's usually a pleasure for me to read through the  posts on this site. The members have established an atmosphere of cordial collegiality, with a polite readiness to provide a range of answers for the many problems that we often encounter. This is certainly a site which is available to all, as is my local pub! However if I were to show the lack of restraint there, that has been exhibited in this post, I could expect to be shown the door fairly swiftly. Let's stay civilised, !please

I've bought tools from many places, but here's a story from me.

 

I have both the 150 and 300 offset diamond Stew Mac files. About three months ago, the 300 grit wasn't cutting like I remember. Upon closer inspection, it was starting to lose it's grit. I called Stew-Mac to ask about warranties. I was off the phone in under 4 mins total with a new file on the way. Within three days I had a new file and a call tag for the old one. They even paid the freight. I was completely impressed with how well I was treated. I have bought many tools for them. That experience made me want to buy many more.

 

For what it's worth, this is the funniest thread I've ever read. The rant on Germany almost made me spit out the water I was drinking. I really like how friendly and helpful people are on this forum. It's a nice little place Frank got going. Something like this just proves how cool everyone is. Many people spent time trying to take a troll seriously. I seriously feel like people here would still give Bob's tool a fair shake if presented with them.

 

I learned a ton from this forum and from Frank's site. I have done guitar repair everyday for the last 15 years. I'm not sure I'll ever learn it all! You guys are always thinking of stuff I haven't!
