I've managed to get cracks and structural issues under control but I'm missing a piece of the top and the kerfing. I'm thinking of putting in a piece that will be both a patch for the top and kerfing. I'm making an armrest to cover most of the damage but I want the top to be connected to the sides.

I don't see why you can't do that. Were did the piece of kerfing go to anyway? And you should have replaced it before this. What about the rest of the kerfing is it still solid or did you not get in there to see? Bill..............

This is a customers guitar so I don't know what happened to the missing pieces. To be honest it surprises me that this happens at all, a guitar is damaged and the pieces are lost or discarded. The kerfing on either side is solid, I couldn't see any advantage to trying to replace the kerfing and patching the top before everything else was secured.Am i missing something?
