Alverez or Alvarez?
Alvarez.......Ooops
Er..just wondering..What is "a world of hurt"? My native language is english english, which can differ conciderably from american english, so it's possible I'm missing something here :-)

World of hurt = Suprise ! No amount of heat will loosen this glue we used !
I guess you are asking if the glue used is standard wood glue or something else?
I'd say it would be an Aliphatic resin wood glue (Tite-bond)
Just heat and loosen the tongue the standard way, if it doesn't want to budge then someone may have used epoxy.

It hasn't been re-glued......I'm wondering if anyone has prior knowledge, having removed one before...I just have a sneaking suspicion that it may not be a wood glue...
epoxy?
I hope not
Why worry and talk about it? Just tackle the job, it's not a big deal.
I'm 90% sure it will easily loosen, and if it's tough to loosen keep at it with heat and moisture. May have to heat the spatula if it's epoxy, but it will come loose.
What can you do otherwise, throw the guitar out???
I've worked on many brands, most are glued with Aliphatic resin glue, it's the one that have been previously repaired that may have exopy.

Jim
If it's made in the far east it will be fun to work with. Just use a lot of steam be careful and take your time. Use one of those jigs from S&M,or make your own like I did. Apply pressure to the base of the heal, gently, with the pressure screw,Don't forget to pad it, and increase pressure little by little and use you intuition, eyes and ears. I could take a long time but I don think it is epoxy. I have done a lot of Japanese guitars this way. After you get it off you have a lot of cleaning out to do before you can re glue.
Have fun and I hope you are getting paid well.

The tag just said....Re-set neck....It does not say, please call with estimate...I know I've had lots of fun with some far eastern bridges...I did make the jig long ago....Just looked at the S&M picture, and said...That doesn't look to hard to make...By the by...Luckily, the neck is loose...Just need to loosen the tongue...I know alchohol works on me, but I'll refrain from using it on the guitar..
You know, I think you may be the first person that I've ever heard of that needed to pull the neck on an Alvarez guitar.
