CLR: Anything I need to know about this stuff for metal guitar parts?

 Just a wondering. I generally do not polish metal parts, but use CLR in a ziplock bag and a cotton cloth afterwards. 

  Are there metals that I should not be using this stuff on?

This gold plating looks a little different. I'm wondering if the mfg's have finally discovered the method that Delta and Price Pfister use on faucets. If they haven't...why not? America wants to know!

I use cola on the grungy finger jam crusty metal parts soak it over night and then soap and water and WD the next day. Don't drink it after though.
