Needing a photo essay on rebuilding 20s/30s banjo machine heads...

The Kay Kraft tenor guitars (and sume of the uber- nice  6 strings) all come with several different brands of banjo machine, and the vast majority of them need to be rebuilt to be of use. Can anyone direct me  to some info ?

Not sure about your specific tuners, but this has helped me in the past:

(Thanks Paul H.)

Thanks Thomas. I have this one on file. Banjo machines seem to have little to do with these type....

Paul Breen may be your best bet in here........sent him some pancake type tuners a while back as he said he refurbs them.

Thanks Tim but I took you up on the the tuners for my parts bin. I like having spare stuff around for parts replacement, that's not really refurbishing.

Paul Hostetter's website may not illustrate a cure for your particular problem but if he does not see and respond to this thread you may want to contact him, he may be able to help.

I did a 'Once Every 5 Years Post' on Banjohangout, and had an answer in  about 5 hours. I still wish there were photos though... I live for photoessays...

Man, is it ever BUSY over on that site! In the 24 hours after I posted my thread, there were 35 separate threads started! That is way busier than even Mandolincafe!

Don't know if this helps...

I took apart one of the Grover's that Tim sent me.

Cool! I've got a set of these on a 1929 Martin Tenor that I hope to clean and repair - perfect information! Thanks guys!
