Howdy from Sitka Alaska

I have been lurking here for quite a while and figured it was about time to try a post. I am just finishing an interesting project, and thought I would share a couple of photos. This started life as an Orphuem 3/4 size solid Mahogany guitar. It was given to me pretty much ruined, the top had been sanded with a belt sander and was so thin it was useless. They had also tried to remove the neck and destroyed the head block, and the dovetail on the neck. I had the little slot head neck that someone else gave me, so I rebuilt the head block, and did a mortise and tennon bolt on neck joint. The new top is red cedar, ebony fretboard, bridge, and headstock overlay, walrus ivory nut and saddle, and Grover stay tite tuners. Finish is brushed on color tone from stewmac. It sounds great considering it's size, lots of volume and sustain, and fairly well balanced across the strings. AS an experiment I left the fret board quite thick and did not glue it down. The neck can be removed for travel, and future neck angle adjustments. It's been strung up for over a week and been played a lot the unglued fret board tail seems to be working OK, time will tell!

Sorry for the poor quality photos.
