FRETS.NET

Hi, everyone.  A customer has brought a 1940s Gibson L-7 which has a top that is somewhat sunken.  Since it has no pickup hole to work through, I'm wondering if anyone has a process for repairing it by working through the F-holes so that I don't have to remove the back.

I've done a lot of searching and haven't found anything, though I did see an article on Frank Ford's Big Index where he made a tool to lift the top of a mandolin (below).  If anyone has an idea where a similar tool could be purchased, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Eric

Frank sure makes some nifty tools, right?!

Perhaps a Stewmac bridge clamp could pull a loose brace back into contact , Then brush glue into the joint with a brush on a wire extension .
