Brown binding tape

I can't for the life of me remember where I bought  the last rolls of brown binding tape I used, and now I am out and need to glue on some binding asap.  I know a lot of people don't like the brown stuff that is sold through lmi, but I do.  I also know that I bought it locally the last time.  I've seen it a million times....just never when I need it.  If anyone knows what the original use for this tape is, it might steer me in the right direction.  I have tried hardware stores, automotive stores, craft stores, fedex, post office...all with no luck.  I would rather buy it locally, rather than through mail order where there are minimum orders.  Any help would be appreciated.
