Hi, I thought I would show my binding scraper. I have been using it for quite a few years now and the cost was zero. And it gives me an excuse to post something.
As can be seen in the photos it’s made using an old planer blade and a shop-made blade holder. The original holes in the blade were perfectly positioned to enable me to fashion rise and fall adjustments to allow scraping on the sides of the instrument or the narrower areas of binding on the top.
And as can be seen in the photos, the blade can be extended out to also scrape purfling if required whilst maintaining the desired width by using the fence built into the handle.
