To make a caul for the bridge plate when reglueing a bridge, I took some modeling clay, in a sandwich bag, squashed it , got inside the guitar and squashed it again all around the bracing and plate, and got this:Bridge%20mold%20from%20clay.JPG
From that it was easy to get a shaped caul out of aluminum, I then drilled a counterbored hole in order to attach it to a single bridge clamp and glued the bridge back on with the right sized caul :)

Hey Carl.
Nice one. Simple, cheap, quick and effective - everything that we like in a jig or a technique!
Mark
Thanks - took only a minute of head scratching!
Quick, cheap and effective - a winner on all counts. . .
Hmmm.... I don't think I've ever seen a full 24hrs+ go by without someone posting something, somewhere here on the board. Dang, it must be summertime:)
Does the clay self-harden or do you have to bake it?
No. It's non hardening. It's just for a quick temporary close template that I traced onto a piece of scrap aluminum. Not meant as permanent. just the ready to use stuff from an arts and crafts store.
