Does antone knoe what this is?

I hesitate to ask as I know this is not a very prestigious guitar, but I liked the look of it and I think its worth saving. What I’d love to know is what is it? Initially I’d thought it was a Harmony but can find nothing like it on the Harmony site, nor is it a Silvertone. So I’m at a loss to identify it. If anyone does know or even better has pictures of what it should look like I’d be very grateful.

The supplied picture are how it arrived. It has now been stripped, fillled and awiting painting.

Why do you think that the electronics are original? They look totally slapped on to some of us.

I believe the electrics to be original due to how well the control holes and the hole for the selector have been cut. As mentioned eartlier Harmony Rockets had  a very similar design.

Nardan? I found this one: Similar f-holes and headstock, zero fret, Japanese origin.  However, when things are this far along in mods / repairs it will probably remain mysterious? ...not always bad thing for old funky boxes like yours.

But look at that pickguard - what is that cutout for? Looks to me like it is intended for a pickup that was never placed, making the electronics not so unfeasible. Unless you are supposed to put a tissue dispenser or something in there, perhaps a beef jerky dispenser. Now there is a good idea...

I'm guessing a Harmony or Harmony-built Silvertone. Check out the Silvertone 1449. I believe it has the same f-holes and might give you ideas on what to do to restore it. Would make a great rockabilly rocket.
