What's your favourite NUT LUBE ?

Hi everyone , just wondered what you all favour to lube nuts on electrics and acoustic guitars ?

I currently use STewmac triflow with better results than their "guitar grease", but the use of liquid ptfe (which is what triflow is) annoys me a little, so I wonder if I will buy another bottle.

Forget its "other" uses.  It's a water based lube and probably shouldn't be used.

I mainly use a Vaseline/powdered graphite mix.  I mixed a 3 oz. concoction of that about 10 years ago and still have 2.75 oz's. left.

That's always a good trick. Putting Triflow in the slots and blowing in some graphite works too.

A properly cut nut needs no lube.

You took the words out of my mouth.

What works for me is to make the nut very well with typical nut files, and then smooth the notches further with welding tip files, which are crummy for making the slots, but great for rounding and smoothing them. They are also really cheap and available at most hardware stores.

Thanks for the input guys , I rarely need it but sometimes a Gibson electric will snag on D or G due to fanning out the strings to the tuners , I have been using Teflon grease from a modelling store , and a bit of graphite sometimes , I also find that Fenders often return to tune better with string trees unhooked .

Make sure that slot walls are smooth to begin with using either abrasive cord or welding tip cleaner rods. After I do that I use:
